Infection Control Training Ltd can offer a broad range
of training programmes in infection control and related subjects. We can
tailor programs to suit the needs of individual organisations,
environments, specialist and staff groups.
Infection Control Training employs an ICN who holds a
Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and leads on the
development of all company training programmes.
Below are some of the key programs offered:
Induction training - Infection Control
Offered as part of an organisation's induction program, or as an
induction module in its own right. This provides an introduction to key
issues in infection control within the organisation.
Continuing Professional Development for Clinical Staff - Infection
Control.
Building on issues introduced at induction level, this program is
particularly relevant for clinical staff involved in direct patient
care. It provides training on key issues in infection control including
hand hygiene, sharps injury prevention, standard infection control
precautions, MRSA etc.
Infection Control Training - Support and Ancillary Staff
This provides an excellent overview of infection control for support and
ancillary staff, dispelling myths and introducing safe practices for
their areas of work.
Targeted training programs
These are some examples of targeted programs that can be offered; others
can be created to suit individual needs:
- Standard infection control precautions (Universal
precautions)
- Hand hygiene
- Environmental cleanliness
- Sharps injury prevention and management
- Waste management
- Decontamination and reprocessing of medical devices
- Management of important infections, e.g. MRSA, TB,
diarrhoea and vomiting, scabies, etc.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Management of invasive devices
- Food hygiene
- Audit training
Infection Control Link Practitioner Program
This is a highly specialised program developed to provide key staff
in a healthcare organisation with the knowledge and skills to enable
them to assess patient needs and to plan and deliver appropriate,
evidence-based care to patients with, or at risk of acquiring infection.
It encompasses the physical, psychological and social aspects of care
and is designed to promote an effective way of enhancing infection
control expertise within the clinical environment, ensuring a high
quality service to all patients, visitors and staff.
ICLPs are usually trained nurses, allied medical
professionals or other staff groups inc. support workers/health care
assistants and domestic supervisors etc.
Infection Control Link Practitioner (ICLP) Training.
This 2/3 day course can be provided to groups of staff
within an organisation. In addition, ICT can provide courses for
delegates attending independently. These courses are provided currently
in London and the South East dependent on need.
